WEST JAVA ELECTRICITY SUPPLY PLAN

For those who are interested in developing power plants in West Java, I would like to share the following points with regard to the above subject. Warm regards.

Electricity Condition
Electricity system of West Java constitutes part of Java-Bali interconnection system. The main supply for electricity need of West Java other than from the Java-Bali 500 kV and 150 kV transmission systems is from Hydro Power Plants Saguling and Cirata. Peak utilization in 2011 reached 5,515.46 MW.
Total installed capacity of power plants in West Java up to 2011 was 6,615.23 MW consisting of Steam Power Plants 1,650 MW, Gas Power Plants 1,534 MW, Steam and Gas Power Plants 1,014 MW, Diesel Power Plants 0.20 MW, Hydro Power Plants 1,331.86 MW, Mini Hydro Power Plants 0.50 MW, Micro Hydro Power Plants 1,67 MW, Thermal Power Plants 1,057 MW, and Solar Power Plants 26 MW. Total electricity sale for West Java in 2011 was 34,054 GWh.

Energy Potentials
West Java has diversified energy potentials for power plants consisting of hydro, oil, natural gas, thermal, and coal bed methane. Hydro potentials are estimated to reah 2,137.5 MW in 5 locations namely Cibareno-1, Rajamandala, Jati Gede, Upper Cisokan-PS, and Grindulu-PS-3. Oil potentials are estimated to reach 599.4 MMSTB and natural gas are expected to reach 4.24 TSCF.
Thermal potentials are estimated to reach 5,839 Mwe, scattered in 40 locations namely K Ratu (Salak), Kiaraberes (Salak), Awi Bengkok, Ciseeng, Bujal Jasinga, Cisukarame, Selabintana, Cisolok, G Pancar, Jampang, Tanggeung-Saguling, Cilayu, Kawah Cibuni, G Patuha, K Ciwidey, Maribaya, Tangkubanperahu, Sagalaherang, Ciarinem, G Papandayan, G Masigit–Guntur, Kamojang, Darajat, G Tampomas, Cipacing, G Wayang–Windu, G Telagabodas, G Galunggung, Ciheuras, Cigunung, Cibalong, G Karaha, G Sawal, Cipanas–Ciawi, G Cakrabuana, G Kromong, Sangkanurip, Subang, and Cibingbin. Coal bed methane potentials are estimated to reach 0.8 TCF.

Electricity Demand Estimate
It is projected that demand for electricity in West Java for the period 2012-2031 shall grow averagely by 8.7% per year so that in 2031 electricity need is estimated to reach 176.7 TWh. To fulfill peak utilization growth of averagely around 8.4% per year until 2031, then additional power of averagely around 1,626 MW per year shall be needed.
