CENTRAL JAVA ELECTRICITY SUPPLY PLAN

Electricity Condition
Electricity system of Central Java constitutes part of Java-Bali interconnection system. Other than the main electricity supply from 500 kV and 150 kV transmission systems, electricity need of Central Java is supplied by Steam Power Plants/Steam and Gas Power Plants in Tambaklorok, Hydro Power Plants in Mrica, Steam Power Plants in Cilacap, and Thermal Power Plants in Dieng. Peak utilization in 2011 reached 2,677.80 MW.
Total installed capacity of power plants in Central Java up to 2011 was 5,213.92 MW, consisting of Steam Power Plants 3,675 MW, Gas Power Plants 135.26 MW, Steam and Gas Power Plants 1,033.90 MW, Hydro Power Plants 306.82 MW, Mini Hydro Power Plants 2.80 MW, Micro Hydro Power Plants 0.14 MW, and Thermal Power Plants 60 MW. Total electricity sale for Central Java in 2011 was 15,316 GWh.

Energy Potentials
Central Java is estimated to have 360 MW hydro power potentials in Maung. 1,981 MWe thermal power potentials are also estimated, scattered in 14 locations namely Banyugaram, Bumiayu, Baturaden-G Slamet, Guci, Mangunan–Wanayasa, Candradimuka, Dieng, Krakal, Panulisan, G Ungaran, G Umbul –Telomoyo, Kuwuk, G Lawu, and Klepu. Coal potentials are estimated for 0.82 million tonnes.

Electricity Demand Estimate
It is projected that demand for electricity in Central Java for the period 2012-2031 shall grow averagely by 8.2% per year so that in 2031 electricity need is expected to reach 73.0 TWh. To fulfill peak utilization growth of averagely around 7.9% per year until 2031, then additional power of averagely around 732 MW per year shall be needed.
