EAST JAVA ELECTRICITY SUPPLY PLAN

For those who are interested in developing power plants in East Java, I would like to share the following points with regard to the above subject. Warm regards.

Electricity Condition
Electricity system of East Java constitutes part of Java-Bali interconnection system. Demand for electricity in East Java is mainly supplied by the Java-Bali interconnection system through 500 kV Extra High Voltage Air Channel and 150 kV and 70 kV High Voltage Air Channel networks. In addition, there is also electricity supply from embedded power plants such as Hydro Power Plants Wonorejo–PJB and Mini Hydro Power Plants through Medium Voltage network, Diesel Power Plants, Mini Hydro Power Plants Sampean Baru, and rented power plants. Peak utilization in 2011 reached 4,076.19 MW.
Total installed capacity of power plants in East Java up to 2011 was 8,109.75 MW, consisting of Steam Power Plants 5,425 MW, Gas Power Plants 342.25 MW, Steam and Gas Power Plants 2,040.61 MW, Diesel Power Plants 8.83 MW, Hydro Power Plants 293.03 MW, and Mini Hydro Power Plants 0.03 MW. Total electricity sale for East Java in 2011 was 24,019 GWh.

Energy Potentials
East Java has energy potentials consisting of natural gas, oil, coal, hydro, and thermal. Natural gas potentials are estimated to reach 5.73 TSCF, oil potentials 1,031.94 MMSTB, and coal potentials 0.08 million tones. Hydro power potentials are estimated to reach 2,162 MW in 4 locations namely Grindulu-PS-3, K Konto-PS, Karangkjates Extension, and Kalikonto-2. Thermal potentials are estimated to reach 1,274 Mwe, scattered in 11 locations namely Melati Pacitan, Rejosari Pacitan, Telaga Ngebel Ponorogo, G Pandan Madiun, G Arjuno–Welirang, Cangar, Songgoriti, Tirtosari Sumenep, Argopuro Probolinggo, Tiris-G Lamongan Probolinggo, and Blawan-Ijen Bondowoso.

Electricity Demand Estimate
It is projected that demand for electricity in East Java for the period 2012-2031 shall grow averagely by 7.6% per year so that in 2031 electricity need is expected to reach 104.1 TWh. To fulfill peak utilization growth of averagely around 7.4% per year until 2031, then additional power of averagely around 977 MW per year shall be needed.
